The 39ft William Fife/ OM Watts Cutter, PEREGRINE, from 1936, taking a stroll down the Solent late last summer on her way to supper on the Beaulieu River…she’s very pure and uncomplicated, wholesome - even humble in her look … but aren’t those the special ones.. Modern yachts will take you there too, but wouldn’t you rather get there in this kind of style!? LAK II is a beautiful yacht that in a sense carries in her timbers the story of France over the past 85 years. https://www.sandemanyachtcompany.co.uk/yacht/742/LAK%20II Born in a brief period of optimism between depression and war, and somehow a survivor of that war’s deprivations; designed by a young naval architect, André Mauric, whose genius would later become universally recognised; vibrant participant in the carefree post war years, and in France’s intense America’s Cup campaigns of the 1970s... But in the end, a wonderful yacht because André Mauric had that touch of technical and artistic flair that guarantees immortality. LAK II was given a new lease of life in 2007 that ensures another lifetime of pleasure giving. In current ownership in England she has been recently given a fully electric propulsion system and new sails, and won her class at the 2022 edition of British Classic Week.

In the Spirit Yachts 65 the marque has come of age, designer Sean McMillan leaving behind skerry cruiser roots to evolve something unique and of course highly attractive. Still with an eye for the grace and craftsmanship of the 1930s, but perhaps suggesting how the work of mid-century British yacht designers like Camper & Nicholsons, Kim Holman, George McGruer and Angus Primrose might have evolved. https://www.sandemanyachtcompany.co.uk/yacht/748/CHLO%C3%8B%20GISELLE CHLOË GISELLE is probably the Spirit 65 that has ticked off the most sailing locations in her short lifetime in the knowledgeable ownership of a repeat Spirit Yachts client. She made her maiden forays afloat in the Far East, and with family and friends has raced and cruised both sides of the Atlantic and the English Channel. CHLOË GISELLE’s sail handling systems allow for effortless short-handed sailing, while below her beautifully lit and spacious accommodation offers great conviviality and privacy all at the same time.
