Race One of the SLYC two day event Strangford Lough got under way under cloudy skies with a moderate breeze GTR was ducking and weaving to lock up the pin end of the line on port tack. With two boats choosing to duck behind them to avoid getting pushed the wrong side of the pin there was a third that could caught out and had to tack around to start correctly. With the windward position secured they could put the bow down and accelerate over the boats to leward.. ► Since 1973, the La Rochelle Boat Show, known simply as “Le Grand Pavois” in French, has been THE not-to-be-missed afloat show on France’s Atlantic coast. With 750 boats on display and a record 80,000 visitors, the 2023 event (that ran from September 20 to 25, so a little earlier than usual) clearly benefited from the scheduled absence of the Paris Boat Show at the end of the year. According to the organizers, no more than 10 square feet was left available at the Port des Minimes! Of course, the Multihulls World team was there.
