Last week Slava and I visited Riga in Latvia to film Latitude Yachts amazing catamaran “LANIAKEA”. These guys really know what they are doing, having also successfully completed two very cool but very unusual 53m trimarans called “Galaxy” and “Galaxy of Happiness”…maybe you’ve seen them! It was a great opportunity to outline the process for constructing such an ambitious project!

Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! Barcos de Apoio - Marina de Santo Antonio de Lisboa - Florianópolis SC Os barcos de apoio desempenham um papel essencial ao levar os tripulantes até suas embarcações atracadas em poitas. Essas embarcações, também conhecidas como botes de apoio ou botes de desembarque, são utilizadas para transportar pessoas, suprimentos e equipamentos entre a terra firme e as embarcações que estão ancoradas. Santo Antônio de Lisboa, um bairro localizado em Florianópolis, no estado de Santa Catarina, Brasil, é um exemplo onde essa prática é comumente observada. O bairro está situado às margens da Baía Norte, que abriga inúmeras embarcações de pescadores, veleiros, iates e outros tipos de barcos que utilizam poitas como forma de ancoragem. A importância desse trabalho está relacionada principalmente com a segurança e praticidade para os tripulantes e proprietários das embarcações. Em áreas onde não há docas ou píeres disponíveis para atracação direta das embarcações, as poitas se tornam uma opção viável. Uma poita é uma âncora fixa no fundo do mar. As embarcações são então amarradas a essas poitas para permanecerem seguras e estáveis. Além disso, os barcos de apoio desempenham um papel fundamental em situações de emergência ou manutenção. Se houver a necessidade de evacuação rápida de uma embarcação, seja devido a um incêndio, mau tempo ou outro tipo de problema, os barcos de apoio podem ser utilizados para resgatar os tripulantes em segurança. Sem esses barcos de apoio, o acesso seria muito mais complicado e arriscado, ou seja, sempre agrademos a eles.
