SEA TURTLES CAUGHT IN GHOST NET #indianocean #sailing #shorts #nature #ocean Sailing across the Indian Ocean our sailing family came across two Hawksbill sea turtles trapped in ghost netting, floating in the ocean, close to death. We set to work removing the fishing net that had entangled them, cutting into their skin and their shells. We were just in the right place at the right time to free these beautiful creatures and give them back their freedom. Utopia’s unique features include a steel double bottom for strength, wooden hull sides for warmth, and twin Detroit diesel engines. Visitors can marvel at her elegant lines, learn about her global circumnavigation, and appreciate the craftsmanship that has kept her sailing for decades. Utopia currently resides under the stewardship of the her new owners based in Manitowoc Wisconsin, where it continues to inspire curiosity and passion for the Great Lakes among learners of all ages.
