► A not-to-be-missed event for boating enthusiasts on the U.S. East Coast, the Annapolis Boat Shows attract some 100,000 visitors every year. The event is in fact two separate boat shows held in the same spot, but a week apart. The Powerboat Show, dedicated just to powerboats (417 units on display), was held from October 3 to 6, followed by the Sailboat Show from October 10 to 14. It’s the latter of the two that we’ve selected for you. The event provided an opportunity to take stock of how the multihull sector is taking hold in the United States: we counted 56 two- or three-hull units compared with 96 monohulls, totaling nearly 30% of the offer. Ogni compleanno va celebrato come si deve. Chissà perché il 30esimo per noi è così importante. Si tirano le fila. Si fa un primo checkpoint della strada percorsa fino a qui. Si realizza che il tempo va in una direzione sola. Per me c’è poca differenza, 29, 30, 31, sono tutti vicini. Invece la vera discriminante è un’altra. Avremmo mai immaginato di festeggiare il mio compleanno, a febbraio, in costume da bagno ai Caraibi? Neanche a pensarci. Questo è il vero insegnamento che voglio portarmi a casa. Tante preoccupazioni sul futuro e poi la vita decide che devi prendere una strada a cui mai e poi mai avresti pensato. Occhi aperti ragazzi, e soprattutto antenne alzate! Non sappiamo mai cosa si nasconde dietro l’angolo. Che volete farci, l’età mi ha reso saggia… A domani! Camilla
