If Stu McNay and David Hughes (USA) can win the Medal Race and the Australians finish last, the Americans will just sneak the bronze medal. Apart from that unlikely but not impossible scenario, the 470 Men's medals are wrapped up by the top three teams in the standings. It's just a matter of who wins what between Croatia, Greece and Australia. Mat Belcher and Will Ryan (AUS) have been the class act of this four-year-cycle up until the start of this year. But in this Olympic year, Sime Fantela and Igor Marenic (CRO) have since become the ones to beat after winning a number of major regattas including the 2016 World Championships. Most people still had the Aussies pegged as favourites going into these Games, but the Croatians have been exceptional in Rio, a sixth place being the worst score they have carried through from the ten-race qualifying series. After seeing their fellow countryman Tonci Stipanovic win Croatia's first ever medal in sailing yesterday, these childhood friends are looking to see if they can improve on Laser silver with a historic 470 gold. Panagiotis Mantis and Pavlos Kagialis (GRE) have come on strong towards the end of the week and sit 11 points off the lead. Just two points behind them are the Australians so a case of who beats who to determine which of these crews gets the nicer medal.
Alexander Marine are proud to present this 2017 Maritimo S59 to the market as worldwide central agents. 'Arwen' is presented in immaculate condition having been lightly used and professionally maintained by her one owner. New boat buyers are encouraged to consider this turn key vessel available for immediate delivery. The Maritimo S59 model is a 'beamy' single level, three cabin, two bathroom vessel with broad appeal. The S59 fits a niche market where boaties either have bridges to navigate to reach their home berths, or who prefer the functionality, ease of ownership and social benefits of single level boating. No more flybridge clears to keep clean! The S59 features a full beam midship master cabin, which is a hallmark of the Maritimo range, a VIP cabin with an island double bed and a third bunk cabin. Her walk around decks make access around the boat easy, as does the convenient helm door for the skipper when docking. In addition to the noticeable beam of 'Arwen', she also features a large electrically opening lazerette similar to that provided on the larger M64 cruising motor yacht and also the M51. This huge storage space is perfect for all the water toys you could want, and for additional stowage generally. The Seakeeper Gyro stabilizer is installed in this area for stability underway and at rest. The cockpit is accessed from both sides with openings to the upgraded hi/lo hydraulic swim platform. Other notable equipment items onboard 'Arwen' include Satellite TV, Idromar watermaker, Miele galley applicances, Zodiac liferaft, saloon sunroof and her AB RIB. Maritimo's race proven shaft drive technology reduces fuel consumption and gives the peace of mind of lower maintenance costs and increased longevity of ownership. Like its two level sibling the S59 has all the attributes of the Maritimo brand and will be equally at home cruising Sydney Harbour, Moreton Bay, the Great Loop in the US and other great waterways of the world.
