The aft cabin is one of the biggest spaces on Vela, but we still see so much potential to optimize! Here’s what we’re planning: 🛠️ Extra Storage: We’re building cabinets on each side of the bed and adding shelves inside the hanging lockers—because you can never have too much storage for clothes and gear on a boat. 💡 Desk Transformation: That “make-up table” (seriously, who uses it?) is getting a makeover! We’re turning it into a retractable desk with shelves above—perfect for working or planning our next adventures. 🌬️ Ventilating Cupboard Doors: On our nice-to-have list are ventilating doors for better airflow and to prevent condensation—practical and pretty. 💧 Watermaker Plans: We’re considering fitting the membranes for our watermaker under the bed, making good use of otherwise empty space. This cabin is already cozy, but we can’t wait to make it even more functional for life on board. What do you think of our plans? Any ideas we should consider? Rolex TP52 World Championships 2025 Cascais | One of the serendipitous pleasures of travelling in Europe is in coming across some sailing venue or event that was not part of any plan you had. So it was for us when we took a shore excursion in Lisbon, which stopped briefly In Cascais. It was all happening here; a large fleet of Optimists coming ashore at the Club Navale, the Mirpuri Foundation setting up their base for The Mirpuri Foundation Trophy race in early July and a number of TP52s on the hardstand preparing for the Rolex TP52 World Championship, being held from 1st-6th July. Maybe next time we’ll actively plan to come here!
