The first leg of the ARC+ Rally 2024 has come to a thrilling conclusion, and what a journey it has been! This rally, spanning over 800 NM from Gran Canaria to Cape Verde, tested the mettle of sailors and their vessels. It’s a momentous occasion for all participants, but especially for the crews aboard the Catana OC 50 and the Bali 5.4, whose stellar performances demonstrated the strength, speed, and ingenuity of these world-class catamarans. 🏆ARC Rally from Canaries to St Lucia: 1st Place in Multihull Class & Overall Multihull Class Winner: Samourai – Catana 50 OC. The multihull division was the largest-ever with 43 catamarans and 2 trimarans. This DeFever 44 is bound to catch the eye of anyone looking for a reliable, comfortable, and capable cruiser—especially if you’re dreaming of long-range adventures or living aboard internationally. Designed by Arthur DeFever, a legend in the trawler world, this 44-foot flybridge motor yacht was his most popular model for good reason. It’s built tough with a solid fiberglass hull, a deep keel, and sturdy struts protecting the running gear, making it a seaworthy choice for tackling coastal waters. The displacement hull—steady and fuel-efficient—means you’re not burning through diesel like some lighter boats. You get a generous salon with a galley-up design—perfect for keeping the cook in the conversation—plus a full-beam master stateroom aft with a queen berth, ensuite head, and enough storage to settle in for months. The forward guest cabin has a V-berth for visitors, and the walk-in engine room is a mechanic’s dream—near stand-up headroom for easy maintenance. Add in the flybridge with its commanding views and roomy aft deck for lounging or entertaining, and you’ve got a boat that feels like a floating home without skimping on practicality. Owners love the walk-around decks for easy handling and the tender setup. For someone who values durability, comfort, and the freedom to roam, don’t let this one pass you by! This boat is owned by a US corporation and registered in Poland.

On the way upwind to the second mark of the annual Quoile Yacht Club Regatta a couple of the Glenn fleet were locked in close battle. The J109 Going to Red slipped by both of then to leeward with the rear camera picking up a close tussle between the Glen's. We have a lot to thank Alfred Mylne for and are luck to have so many of the Glen class which were designed and built in the 1940's on the lough and racing regularly. The bottom up boats crew always have a smile on their faces when we glide by some of these timeless beauties.
