After lots of practicing the past week on de catamaran, two of our young crew felt confident enough to sail next to Guppy while we sailed 10 miles along the leeward coast of Barbados to another anchorage. They sang songs, saw turtles and shot some nice footage of Guppy under sail :) Are you ready for the biggest adventure of your life? And you are between 9 - 17 years old? This video was captured by Nita CJ (our Tour Leader) and shows two female Komodo Dragons fighting over a nest site on Rinca Island, Komodo National Park in Indonesia. Mating takes place between May and August and the eggs are laid in September. Once a nest site is chosen and won, the female Komodo will then lay as many as 20 eggs and they then incubate for seven to eight months, hatching in April when insects are plentiful at the end of the rainy season Young Komodo dragons are vulnerable and therefore dwell in trees, safe from predators, and cannibalistic adults. They take eight to nine years to mature and are estimated to live up to 30 years.
