You must get lifted out if you want to visit the island by boat. You cannot anchor out. They have 15 mooring balls available. $30 NZ per day. They can accommodate vessels up to 52 feet. if your vessel is larger than that, you can request a double block. Even your dinghy needs to be lifted out when going ashore. I was setting up for a nice time lapse of the sky and i forgot to put the new battery in so this was cut short but just as it was you can see a nice trail appear in the sky from a plane, just luck but nice none the less :D
