Toni and I headed to “Moments in Time” to raise and furl the screecher sail but the pouring rain caused by Ernesto out in the Atlantic delayed our arrival. Since the breeze was too much to raise and furl a large sail, we decided to rig the flag halyards off the port and starboard spreaders. At least we got something checked off our “to do” list. So kann ein Gutachten-Tag auch mal laufen. 😅 Eigentlich war ein Testsegeln geplant. Raus aus der Box - aber unter Motor bewegte sich die Neel 51 kaum noch. Also ging es direkt in die Liftbox. Wir haben es schon vermutet: Der Faltpropeller war so stark bewachsen, dass nichtmal der Klappmechanismus mehr funktionierte. Ein gutes Beispiel dafür, dass nicht nur der Rumpf sauber bleiben muss sondern auch Propeller, Mechanik, Ruder, Bugstrahler, etc. – durch passendes Antifouling, regelmäßige Reinigung oder ganz pragmatisch: das Boot öfter bewegen. Nicht jedes Gutachten läuft nach Plan. We were able to find items at Hillside Food Supply at Long Island Bahamas that we were not able to find back at George Town. The market is very close to the Dinghy dock which is a private dock, but made graciously available to cruisers. Take a left on Queens Highway at the top of the street (Basil Street) and the market is on the right less than a 1/4 mile down the road. The variety at this food market is awesome. Perfect stop for provisioning going south. Long Islanad Bahamas is a really cool island and a ton to see.
