But are we really ever off-grid, AIS tattling your course and speed, smart phones and smart watches lighting up the airwaves, cell towers pinging your location with every text message, and now eyes in space. On display at the International Multihull Show, the Dracan 42 was available for sea trials, so we obviously jumped at the chance to test this powercat launched by a dynamic team based in Poland. Powered by twin 300 HP outboards, the Dracan reached 30 knots. On the day of our test, the sea was perfectly flat, but crossing the wakes of several other boats at full speed gave us a good idea of how it would handle in waves. In the curves, the 42 stays flat. The modern design of this semi-open hull is unmistakably successful, and the carefully designed layout, with 2, 3 or 4 cabins, will adapt to any program.
