Care must be taken crossing the Wide Bay Bar at the southern end of Fraser Island. There are directional lights on both Fraser Island and Inskip Point which guide craft across the bar. Allan Norregaard, bronze medalist from London 2012 got pretty animated when talking about the racing venue for Rio 2016. After two frustrating days at the Intergalactic championships on the Olympic waters he declared them unfit for Olympic racing. His suggestion: clean up the bay or sail outside on the ocean.
