Say hello to Stormvogel; a timeless offshore icon and now the standout classic in our growing fleet. She's not just graceful; she's formidable too. In the 2023 Rolex Fastnet Race, Stormvogel claimed 6th in IRC Zero (and placed 11th overall in IRC) from a massive field of 358 starters. Launched in 1961, Stormvogel was one of the world's first lightweight maxis-designed by Van de Stadt, with input from Laurent Giles-and built of cold-moulded wood. She won Line Honours in her first-ever Fastnet, and over six decades later continues to sail-and compete-with unwavering spirit. Australia’s future sailing stars congregated at the Gold Coast Performance Centre for the inaugural Australian Sailing Futures camp that was held 1 – 3rd March 2023. It aims proactively support athlete transition into Olympic campaigning with the tools and knowledge to maximise the opportunity. The cohort of athletes present at the camp were selected based on a projected transition upward to the Australian Sailing Squad in 1-2 years, across the full range of classes.
