Offshore cruising in a sudden popโup thunderstorm is anything but predictableโone moment the sea rolls steady, the next a wall of wind barrels down, whipping the rigging and heeling the boat hard over as spray leaps across the deck. Rain lashes sideways, stinging skin and soaking everything in seconds, until I canโt tell whatโs seawater and whatโs sky. The storm seems to come from nowhere, fierce and messy, leaving me braced against the wheel, drenched and blinking through the chaos, riding it out until the burst of fury suddenly eases as quickly as it arrived.
