When you live in such remote locations with little to no access to shops it is essential to know techniques that are available from the surrounding nature. Cooking on the fire can cause a lot of build up of carbon on pots so is often cleaned off using the leaves of sand paper fig tree in replacement of a scourer or steel wool.
