And it was another one of those bad news days. After pulling up the deck on the outside we realised that the wood rot got into the samson post right on deck level. After poking a knife into the samson post to determine how far along the wood rot has gone (hoping we could safe the samson post) we quickly realised that it's rotten almost halfway through and it was a hard decision, I do have to admit it took a bit of convincing, I really wanted to save the old post, I really didn't want another project, it's all getting a bit overwhelming lately, like what the hell was I thinking, buying a timber boat... But yeah the boat builder and a few other friends did talk some sense into me, it is probably not the safest idea to moor your boat on a half rotten post. Ieri alle 2:00 di notte abbiamo concluso la manovra d’ormeggio di Julia. Inutile dire cos’è successo poco dopo. 😴 Questa mattina freschi di 6 ore di sonno abbiamo iniziato la giornata lavorativa con un panorama da togliere il fiato. Affezionati alle Tobago Cays e a Barbuda, qui il podio delle top spiagge non può che aumentare a tre. Isola Saona. Ci rimettiamo in marcia dopo pranzo e percorriamo 20-25 miglia, per fermarci a Casa de Campo per fare dogana. Veleggiata serena, all’ombra dell’isola che ci protegge dalle onde oceaniche. Corriamo veloci a bordo di Julia, la barca nata a La Spezia, che normalmente galoppa sul mar Adriatico e che quest’anno è partita per diventare grande. E noi con lei.
