During our Greenland sailing adventure, we sailed along the Ikateq Channel to the end of the Sermiligaaq Fjord, reaching the stunning Karale and Knud Rasmussen glaciers. We navigated along the edge of the glacier to get a closer look at this breathtaking natural wonder, discovering towering mountains and crystal-clear icebergs in perfect harmony with the serenity of nature. These unique and interesting fish are known for their specialized adaptations that allow them to hitch rides to larger marine animals such as sharks, #whales, #seaturtles, and even #Mantarays. The modified dorsal fin possessed by these fish acts like a suction pad and is so unique, it is called a “sucker disc.” With this sucker disc, they attach themselves to their host’s body and eat parasites and dead skin, providing a cleaning service that benefits the host.
