Competent Crew Course details: ➜ https://www.firstclasssailing.com/rya-courses/competent-crew In this short lesson clip, you see us sailing to windward and tacking our way upwind. You cannot sail a boat directly into the wind. The closest you can sail to the wind is roughly 45 degrees (depending on the boat) either side of the wind. If you want to go somewhere that is upwind you have to tack your way to your destination. Tacking is where you put the bow of the boat through the wind and the sails change sides. You end up sailing a zig zag course to get to where you want to go. ** About the RYA Competent Crew course in Southampton ** The RYA Competent Crew course is the perfect introduction for beginners who want to get into sailing and is specifically designed for those with little to no sailing experience. The IDesMa LMC 650 addresses a problem all yacht owners face: how can you fit a larger tender aboard? Simple. Get one that folds. At the press of a button. That's what the IDesMa does; the forward third of the boat lifts up and slides back into the rest of the hull, opening up lots of extra space in the garage. Take a gander at our First Look video, to get a better idea of how the IDesMa works. http://features.boats.com/boat-content/2013/11/video-first-look-idesma-lmc-650-folding-yacht-tender/ For more boat videos, visit www.boats.com.

The 2023 season got off to the tradition start with the Quoile Yacht club host the spring series on the picturesque shores of strangford lough. With two J109 and two Impala 28's on the staring line in the ICR class there would a race within the race for all competitors. Going to Red got of to a great start with their Code Zero powering them off the start line, allowing them to stretch out a good lead by the time they had made it to mark 5. They did not look back, increasing they lead at every mark, sliding up the the first beat in the deepest part of the lough to get the most assistance from the tide before reaching under some of the competitors in the NHC class with their kite up before taking dropping the kit in front of Killyleagh Yacht Club and beating back up the Quoile River to the take the win both across the line and on corrected time. The racing was tight for the minor places was tight with both the Impala's getting the better of the Jammie Dogger, the other J109 in the fleet. We hope you are enjoying bottom up boats Racing Replays of the 2023 season, make sure you subscribe and get the bell on to get notified of all of our minute long racing replays.
