In Venedig verwenden die Vaporettos beim Anlegen einen speziellen Knoten. Die Leine ist aus Naturfaser mit einem Kern aus Kunstfaser. # The knot during a mooring maneuver with a vaporetto in Venice # Il nodo durante una manovra di ormeggio con un vaporetto a Venezia

Layline tactics should start becoming a priority/focus before approaching them. Avoid arriving early to the layline generally, since this will limit options and potential for further gain. Excess time on layline can result in wind changes or tactical penalties, almost all unfavorable: • Header: Results in wasted distance sailed while opposite tack boats gain • Lift: Results in overstanding, possibly VMG penalty, wasted distance sailed • Tactical Penalty: A boat or group of boats may tack on you At some point, if positioned to leeward or “leading boats” on the short tack, you’ll begin to consider the layline. Don’t wait for that “miracle shift” to cross the boats to windward. Instead, tack early so they’re not as tempted to tack on you. Avoid the layline “train” and enjoy a great lane below for the majority of the sailing distance back towards the rhumbline/mark. If there are too many boats to boats to windward, it might not be possible to get a lane with clean air below layline and options are limited. In that case, consider continuing past starboard layline. Make sure to go far enough so others are not tempted to go that far, and you can continue in clean air all the way to the mark. Consider wind speed and air temperature, since both effects the area of disturbed wind. Also, consider wind speed and the efficacy of a lower mode in that particular velocity. What is ISA Online? REVERSING INTO A BERTH: Singlehanded Docking Stern To with Lazy Lines Watch as Nick, step by step reverses into a berth. This is video 7 in Nicks step by step singlehanded Docking To/With Lazy Lines =========================== Watch the full training video here - https://youtu.be/-OPs960oR88 =========================== Transcript Going to put myself in a position here that I like to be in when I'm reversing into a berth. In this position here I can set myself up for my berth. I can see where I'm going here and at the bow because you use the bow and the movement on the bow to understand which way you're turning. And I can reach my gear lever. One thing I'm going to do before this berth, especially on a windy day is check to see if I've actually got the guy on the dock ready to take my lines. And I don't. But it looks like he's on his way. So I'm going to start this turn around now. Here's our man! Now ideally I do this without the bow thrusters or the stern thrusters just so that I know I've got control of that. I left this turn a little bit late because I was faffing around with the Drone and talking and things like that. =========================== Filmed and Edited by Mahina Hathaway and Nick Hathaway, 45 Degrees Sailing Looking to sail in Croatia?
