► Cruise in Multihulls World Special Issue Power N21: https://www.multihulls-world.com/articles-catamaran-trimaran/ibiza-barcelona-300-nautical-miles-on-a-leen-56 ► Full test in Multihulls World Special issue N16: https://www.multihulls-world.com/review/motor/leen-56-welcome-aboard-an-ocean-going-vessel ► 300 nm aboard one of the very rare motor trimarans on the market NEEL Trimarans, born in 2009, can claim to be the only manufacturer to offer large production trimarans - 30 units are produced every year. This new brand of powered trimarans called LEEN (a clever reflection of Neel, being named after the owner and founder of the yard, Eric Bruneel). The first model launched (before the 72 and now the very new the 51) is therefore the LEEN 56, characterized by the two floats significantly shorter at the bows compared to the central hull, and by a platform of large surface-area, topped by an imposing flybridge. The advantage of these new ocean-going multihulls is their very low drag: consumption will be limited to 2 liters (just over ½ US gal) per mile at cruising speed (9 knots). The diesel engine in the central hull can be supported by two electric pods - one in each hull - to facilitate maneuvering in port and for leaving an anchorage with the greatest discretion. We were able to sail aboard hull #2 for 300 miles from Ibiza to Barcelona. ► TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Builder: Leen Trimarans Architects: Nivelt and Frutschi Overall length: 56’1” (17.10 m) Beam: 27’1” (8.25 m) Draft: 4’3” (1.30 m) Light displacement: 48,500 lbs (22 t) Water: 215 US gal (825 l) Fuel: 1,520 US gal (6,000 l) Motor: 305 HP Cruising speed: 9/10 knots Max speed: 11.5 knots Cabins: 3 to 6 CE Certification: A ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 500 multihulls tests! BUYING A YACHT IN CROATIA: INSURANCE Insurance can be a challenge. Aquila notes the challenges of finding insurance, being a U.S citizen with a U.S flag boat in a foreign country and how he got it sorted. =========================== HUGE SHOUT OUT to Aquila and Dawn. Amazing couple to partner with in finding them their dream come true yacht in Croatia. Check their Facebook Page out and follow their adventures here: https://www.facebook.com/SailingDektos Listen to more of their story here ➡︎ ➡︎. https://youtu.be/-K4Ehi6SSEw =========================== Transcript Looking for insurance was a huge impact for us. The insurance we went through probably 15 different insurance agencies looking for someone who would insure the crossing for the Atlantic, insure the boat while it was in Croatia. And being a U.S citizen with a U.S flag boat in a foreign country not a lot of people were interested. The tip that we actually got that worked out was from Nick for UNIQUA Insurance and they were super helpful. Easy, it just fell right into place. Then came the mooring in order to have the insurance we had to have a mooring which meant that we would, we had to go back through and call just about every Marina in Croatia which there's a lot! =========================== ⛵️ ⛵️ Looking to buy a yacht in Croatia?
