As fitas presas à vela de um veleiro, conhecidas como telltales ou faixas de vento, desempenham um papel crucial na navegação à vela, auxiliando o capitão a determinar o ajuste ideal do rumo em relação ao vento. Essas fitas são instrumentos simples, porém eficazes, que fornecem informações valiosas sobre o fluxo de ar ao redor da vela, permitindo que o velejador tome decisões informadas para maximizar a velocidade e a eficiência da embarcação. As fitas são geralmente compostas de tecido leve e colorido, como fita adesiva ou tiras de plástico.
