Built in 1921, Florette is the last active, originally built brigantine in the Mediterranean and one of the last wooden windjammers that are still actively sailing. Join Florette for an Italian sailing holiday to explore the UNESCO heritage site of the Aeolian islands. From the active volcano of Stromboli to the typical Italian island of Lipari, experience the very best of this archipelago from the water. An unforgettable and versatile sailing holiday in Italy with daily trips ashore, offering a pleasant contrast to the social life on board. Experience the fiery Stromboli, the most active volcano in Europe on an adventurous night-time hike. Climb Vulcano slumbering in sulphur fumes and enjoy a healing bath in the sulphur mud afterwards before dipping into the bubbling sea. Or go hiking on the Salina island, known for its capers and sweet wine. Swim, snorkel and kayak in secluded bays with crystal-clear water and dark beaches made of fine, black lava sand. Florette and her crew always try to combine traditional classic sailing while immersing guests in the natural landscapes ashore; volcanoes, ancient culture and the specialities of the regional Italian cuisine. Whilst on board this historic brigantine guests can get involved with traditional sailing. With an original rig, it is certainly an all-hands on deck approach – which is surely part of the magic to this adventure sailing holiday! https://venturesailholidays.com/ship/florette/
#shorts Here’s a dish I cooked up out at anchor. Ground chicken in a red chili sauce made from Fresno peppers, a sliver of habanero, gochujang, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, galangal, cilantro and vinegar. Topped off with some cut spinach and cilantro. No white bread and spam on this boat! This is the way I do boat food!
I lost the kill cord and had to ask a friend to tow me and our guests back to Britican. That’s the fifth time in ten years that I’ve lost the kill cord. Have I learned yet? It’s all experience-right?! It also shows our guests that living the cruising life requires humility. #sailinglife #learntosail #sailingexperience #livingthedream
