WIND? Singlehanded Docking Stern To with Lazy Lines Nick in this video shares valuable insight on handling winds while performing a stern-to docking manoeuvre with lazy lines. =========================== Transcript Now if it was a really windy day or if I was getting blown away right now I would drive boat against that stern line or control line so that I had control and was not drifting closer to the dock especially if I had a wind on the nose. So we just keep pulling this out and I keep watching the stern of my boat. Now that I'm pulling the boat forward I don't have to worry about the boat heading backwards there and I've got that control line on so I can't go too far. So I'm not going to worry about trying to pull this really hard right now I'm going to get it firm. Get it on. And then go down and deal with my other stern line and the other bow line. =========================== Filmed and Edited by Mahina Hathaway and Nick Hathaway, 45 Degrees Sailing Looking to sail in Croatia? The Mayor of Barcelona and Grant Dalton, CEO of America’s Cup Events (ACE) witnessed an incredible ‘human logo’ of the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup that symbolised the huge effort by so many people in organising what is sure to be one of the most memorable regattas in the event’s 173-year history. Bringing together team members, volunteers, institutions and America’s Cup Event staff, the ‘human logo’ was captured by drone and saw some 700 people take part with the strapline of: FEM-LA GROSSA! – A LO GRANDE! – LET’S MAKE IT BIG! How to Sail an Ideal 18 — Ideally The Ideal 18 is a simple boat. Do the basics well and it feels incredible. Ignore them and it won’t yell at you… it’ll just go slower. This video is a fun look at how to make an Ideal 18 feel smooth, balanced, and suspiciously quick—without adding more strings, gadgets, or emotional baggage. Flat is fast. Restraint is a skill. Tiny adjustments matter more than big ones. If you sail Ideal 18s (or race boats that reward fundamentals), this one’s for you.
