Here are 3 reasons why we bought a steel boat; 1. They are strong! We want to travel anywhere including choppy seas and transatlantic crossings without worrying about the fragility of our boat. Steel sailboats have a more rigid structure and are robust so they can better withstand grazes, rubs, and bumps when in the open water. 2. They are stable! Though not as light and fast as fiberglass boats, the weight of steel boats make them more steady in choppy waters and that means reduce chances of seasickness. 3. We are going electric! Since we were buying a used boat, we needed to select a structure that could be alter in order install our electric motor and a steel structure is highly adaptable. We sail on the good ship Saracen, a Beneteau Oceanis 473 from 2006. Out journey started in Scotland in early 2023 and our ultimate goal is to sail around the globe …..slowly. We make these videos mostly for family and friends and to create a record of our adventures for ourselves so that we can look back at them later in life, were not in it to make money (way to hard).
