And it was another one of those bad news days. After pulling up the deck on the outside we realised that the wood rot got into the samson post right on deck level. After poking a knife into the samson post to determine how far along the wood rot has gone (hoping we could safe the samson post) we quickly realised that it's rotten almost halfway through and it was a hard decision, I do have to admit it took a bit of convincing, I really wanted to save the old post, I really didn't want another project, it's all getting a bit overwhelming lately, like what the hell was I thinking, buying a timber boat... But yeah the boat builder and a few other friends did talk some sense into me, it is probably not the safest idea to moor your boat on a half rotten post. At the south of Mallorca, Porto Cristo we went at anchor. Already in March, the prices to stay at marina's here are very high. But in the marina we saw a silver large catamaran. It belongs to tennisplayer Rafael Nadal, who accomodates his motorboat here. Our boat is 42 ft, so it fits twice into this Sunreef! The ship is called 'Great White' and has costs 8 millon euro's. The interior inside is luxurious, with a table tennis table (of course!) and a garage below with jetski's and seabobs. We took our dingue and admired Rafa's boat!
