Whether you can dive off the back of your own boat cannot. It is a line on the yacht's spec sheet, settled the day you pick the boat. Most BVI catamarans will happily arrange a dive. Far fewer are built to dive from, and the difference is the kit that lives on board: tanks, a compressor, and a certified instructor in the crew. Without a compressor it is a guided, instructor-led program rather than unlimited diving. With one, you refill on board and drop straight in off your own swim platform. That is what puts The Indians off Norman Island, Wreck Alley off Cooper Island and The Chimney off Dog Island on your own schedule instead of a day boat's.
