Imagine being alone in the middle of the ocean, with no internet, no social media, no WhatsApp… and your only way of sending little messages back to the outside world is by text. You’d probably use them for important updates, right? Well… apparently this is what I consider important. 😂 Banana pancakes. Mystery sticks. Shrimp jokes. Pilot whales. New songs. And occasionally remembering that I’m actually sailing solo around the world. These little messages are becoming tiny snapshots of life aboard Showgirl, and I think they’re probably the best indication you’re going to get of what’s happening inside my head out there. No filters. No scrolling. Just whatever feels important enough to send from the middle of the ocean. Follow along for more very important communications from sea. 🌊😂 ⚓ Life on the Showgirl is my journey toward one of the toughest solo sailing races on the planet: the Golden Globe Race — sailed solo, non-stop, and without modern technology. Follow along as I learn, prepare, and chase a dream that feels bigger than me. ------------------------------------------ New videos EVERY week ------------------------------------------ EXCLUSIVE CONTENT!!: https://www.patreon.com/classicmara ------------------------------------------ Follow Mara: https://www.instagram.com/classicmara_/ __________________________ Support me: PayPal: https://www.paypal.me/helgamarielk Vipps: 39088 - Classic Mara Venmo: https://account.venmo.com/u/griedy1 GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/173a9a5e6 Buy Me a Coffe: https://buymeacoffee.com/classicmara __________________________ Affiliate links: Dakota Lithium Batteries: https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=79634&awinaffid=2732466&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dakotalithium.com Orca Navigation System: https://getorca.com/?via=classicmara PitViper: https://www.pitviper.com/discount/CLASSICMARA?redirect=%2F&utm_campaign=money%2Bcounters&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_source=upfluence

Catching up with Mara somewhere in the Atlantic… 🌊 This was day 7 of sailing solo, non-stop around the world, with no GPS to help her out. And this was a good day for making miles!!! The wind showed up, Showgirl got moving, and Mara covered a LOT of ground while continuing to navigate the old-fashioned way. More updates coming soon. Follow along on every platform to see more of Mara’s journey around the world.

Why sail solo around the world, without modern technology? There are a lot of reasons. But one of them has always been bigger than sailing. I want women and girls of every age to look at adventures like this and think, why not me? Girls like my nieces. I grew up surrounded by strong women, and I know how much that shaped the person I became. I had women around me who showed me that I could figure things out, take on challenges and go after what I wanted. And I want to be that person for someone else too. Sailing is still a world where you’ll find far more men than women, especially when you get into offshore sailing and races like this one. I don’t want that to be a reason not to try. You don’t have to sail around the world. You don’t even have to sail. I just hope that somewhere, a girl sees me out here and thinks that maybe she can do the thing she’s been told isn’t really for her. Learn. Get good at it. Take up your space. And then maybe someone else will see you doing it too. ❤️ 🌊⚓ Life on the Showgirl is my journey toward one of the toughest solo sailing races on the planet: the Golden Globe Race — sailed solo, non-stop, and without modern technology.
