Step aboard the magnificent Bessie Ellen and embark on a remarkable journey through time as she celebrates 120 years of heritage sailing. Built in 1904 and lovingly restored, Bessie Ellen is one of the last surviving West Country trading ketches and stands as a living testament to her maritime history, overflowing with stories from the past. In her 2024 season, she will set sail around the British Isles, unveiling the mesmerising landscapes and seafaring heritage of the United Kingdom. Join her on one of her celebratory voyages as you immerse yourself in a hands-on sailing experience that will transport you back to a bygone era. Spanning fourteen legs, Bessie Ellen’s voyage will showcase the coasts of Cornwall, the rugged shores of Wales and Scotland, the mystical Orkney Islands, and the East Coast. Join us for a truly unique sailing holiday in the UK on board a historic ship. https://venturesailholidays.com/ship/bessie-ellen/schedule/

Working or playing? When you love what you do and do what you love there's often no clear line between the two. To design and build outstanding boats, understanding every aspect of the interplay between hulls, wind & water is crucial, as is first hand experience of all the systems and components that bring it to life and the potential effects of minor changes on any of these. Up close and wet on a mighty machine is one excellent way to do that and is exactly what our youngest team members have been doing this season. Design and build have teamed up in the persons of Luca and Pete, and they've been joined by others in their age groups from the yard and local sailing scene, as well as friends from Highwater Sails. D-1 is a well proven weapon and was the training ground for Daz himself who raced across the Atlantic (and won!) in a boat just like this, Clarke's Active Air, the 3rd Dazcat. They say passion diminishes over time but here it just seems to gather momentum. We'll be bringing you much more on D-1's season soon. In the meantime enjoy this short, and you decide whether they're working, playing or simply trying to survive!!
