Day 2. Today was a rough one. I’ve been feeling really sick, and everything I did felt like a huge effort. Even small things would completely drain me, so I ended up spending a lot of time just lying down in between the sail changes I needed to do. The first half of the day especially just knocked me out. Not ideal when your partner is seasick in addition and not really able to help either… but here we are, still getting through it. Luckily the weather has been pretty calm, which made a big difference. At least we didn’t have to deal with anything too demanding on top of everything else. But we both know there’s stronger weather coming. Day 6. I finally feel good again. It’s taken a few days, but today I woke up feeling like myself. And it shows. The whole mood is different. Everything feels lighter, easier, more positive. We used the day to prepare for the front that’s coming. Gabi cooked, so we now have food ready. We cleaned up the boat a bit, got things in place, just making sure we’re set before the weather changes. I also spent some time working on the SSB radio and finally got it to work. It still needs a bit of fine tuning, but that’s a big step forward. The winds have been very light today, so we haven’t been moving much. But honestly, it’s been nice. A calm day to reset, get organized, and just breathe a little. Today was one of those days with a bit of everything. It started windy and quite rough. During the night I had adjusted the sails to make it a bit easier to sleep, which helped, but also pushed us a little off course. Worth it for the rest. The tricky part is the wind is coming from exactly where we want to go. So the options were basically southeast, or northwest… none of them ideal. Anything with south or west in it feels wrong right now, but that’s what we had to work with. So we zigzagged a bit. Back and forth, trying to gain something, but not really making much headway. At least we were moving. Then at some point, the wind dropped. And honestly… it felt amazing. A proper break. The boat calmed down, everything softened, and for a moment it was just peaceful. But then it died completely. Which meant- time to charge the batteries. So we did. Had an amazing dinner, got ready to charge again… and then the alternator stopped working. So now the batteries aren’t charging. And the day ends with me back in the engine bay, trying to figure out what’s going on.
