We completed Leg One of Voyage, Heading to Tokyo for 70th Birthday and Gerontology Conference First Mate Ian is staying on board and I'm heading to Tokyo for a 70th birthday celebration and to attend a gerontology conference where I'm on the organizing committee. I'm also there to support a keynote speaker who I helped get a book published. Design & Construction With a length of 19.00 meters (62.34 feet) and a beam of 9.10 meters (29.86 feet), the Catana 582 offers impressive interior volume and outstanding stability. The hulls are constructed from GRP with a PVC foam core sandwich, delivering a strong yet lightweight structure optimized for performance cruising and bluewater capability. Performance & Rigging Equipped with twin Yanmar 4JH3-DTE 125 HP diesel engines, each showing fewer than 1,100 hours as of September 2024, the vessel provides reliable propulsion when needed.
