The first days at sea with the new Hallberg-Rassy 44 Mk II have given us a very positive first impression. She has a fantastic rudder feel, allowing you to steer her effortlessly with just your fingertips. Even when pushing her close to the limit in a fresh breeze, she remains perfectly balanced and easy to control. The twin rudders provide exceptional grip and confidence, while the carbon steering wheel enhances that feeling even further. During our first sail, she remained beautifully balanced and light on the helm, even carrying full sail in gusts of 28-30 knots. Instead of feeling overpowered, she simply converted the extra pressure into speed, reaching a top speed of 12.5 knots. The in-mast furling carbon mast has taken an already great yacht to another level. Compared with an aluminium mast, its lower weight and greater stiffness allow you to carry more sail area in fresher winds while maintaining excellent balance and control. Giornata in cui le mani non riescono a stare in mano. In barca è così: qualcosa da fare c’è sempre. Oggi i lavori in agenda sono due: impiombare la drizza del gennaker e stringere (più rimettere proprio) alcune viti nel rollafiocco. Nel frattempo succedono cose in cucina: pasta con peperoni, guacamole e vellutate. Di certo l’attenzione posta nella cambusa sta portando i suoi frutti. Speriamo succeda la stessa cosa anche con l’attenzione spesa nell’acquisto di esche e strumenti per la pesca! Oggi un pesce l’abbiamo preso, ma nessun segno di compagnia. Arriverà. L’evento di oggi è una sorpresa: a bordo non sapevamo di essere in 8. Qualcuno di molto tenero si aggirava per le cabine senza farsi sentire. Solo Ale era a conoscenza della sua presenza, avendolo portato senza passaporto. Signore e signori, ecco a voi Giorgio Cataratta. Il nuovo membro dell’equipaggio.
