*Please Note : This video was shot towards the end of production so not everything shown in the video has been finished to Columbia Yachts usual high standard. "This is the Yanmar 2YM15 Diesel inboard option for the boat. It's hooked into a retractable fixed 3 blade prop. The engine is about 14 hp and the boat should do about 7.0 - 7.5 knots under power."
Follow former multihull builders and sailors as we search for a new boat to get back on the water while we prepare for retirement. Come share the challenges of defining our new boat requirements and the struggles to get our next boat into home waters. Our first life was spent building and sailing trimarans, our second life was exhausted with raising a family and sending them through college, our third life will be getting back on the water in retirement with No Agenda. We Only Live Thrice 😉
This video, taken by Patrick G in France and copied here with his permission shows his Strike 20 trimaran on its fourth sail. I quote from his email " we achieved 9 / 10 kt to windward, 16 kt broad reaching under gennaker ( 14.8knots over 500 m and 14.3 over a nautical mile) The Strike 20 has a simple dory shape plywood main hull and uses beach cat outriggers and rig. so it is an easy cheap way to build your own performance trimaran.
