This is a short video with an impression of the workshop that I gave on the 'ATD International Conference and Expo' at 22. Mai 2023 in San Diego. ATD is the American Association for Trainers, the largest worldwide with 300.000 members. For 80 years now, they organize every year a 4 day conference in a city in the USA. I've been a speaker 3 times before and now is the 4th time. The topic that I presented was about Online Training, because I am a 100% online trainer now at the catamaran. I shared my 10 best tips on keeping the participants attention when you are an online trainer: https://atdconference.td.org/speakers/laura-van-den-ouden The tips come from the Dutch bestseller that I wrote in 2020 which is called '100 Online werkvormen': https://experttrainers.nl/100-online-werkvormen-e-book/. This E-book is also translated in English, titled '100 online working methods for online training'. The training was a success! There was room for 130 participants and about 300 people showed up, so extra chairs were ordered, or people had to sit on the ground or lean against the walls :). I used a bingo card and 10 online tips, also telling about the fact that I train on a catamaran. It was a practical session, it was nice that the session was appreciated by other international trainers!

🌌 Tuning Out: A Hidden Trauma Response 🌌 Have you ever found yourself zoning out during a conversation, feeling like you're watching life from a distance? This is known as "tuning out," a common trauma response that many people experience. Here’s what you need to know ✨What It Is: Tuning out is a protective mechanism wherein the mind detaches itself from overwhelming emotions or stressful situations. It's like hitting the pause button and allowing you to escape reality when the feelings are too much to bear. 🔍 Why This Happens: The human brain seeks refuge and security when confronted with the memory of trauma or fear. Tuning out is, in effect, a means of protection against an undesirable memory or sensation that develops a temporary safe haven. 🛑 Signs You May Be Tuning Out: 1. You catch yourself daydreaming or staring off into space during conversations. 2. It would almost seem that you saw life, only you're unable to become a part of it. 3. Time slips away and you can hardly remember what happened within the day. ❣️ Remember: Healing is a journey, and it is okay to ask for support along the way. In acknowledging your responses to your trauma, you are brave enough to work toward your recovery.  You are not alone; support is always available to walk you on your journey toward wholeness. Silence upon answers to trauma should be broken and let us understand the same together.

The sail from George Town to Black Point was awesome. The last hour, a squall came through shifting the wind around to the nose. We had purposely gone this far, missing Staniel Cay, so that we'd hit cut on a flood and not have to burn a bunch of fuel with an ebb tide. I would suspect this cut would be pretty challenging hitting it on an ebb with opposing wind. It was pretty calm outside the cut, but the waves really turned up inside the cut (on the Bahamas Bank Side)
