Step 1 — Introduce the mat Let your dog sniff it, reward any interest. Make it a positive place. Step 2 — Watch for potty signs Sniffing, circling, pacing — that’s your cue. Step 3 — Guide your dog to the mat Every single time. Keep your cue consistent: “go potty”. Step 4 — Reward immediately Praise during, treat right after. This is where the magic happens. Step 5 — Add a scent marker Put a tiny bit of your dog’s own pee on the mat the first days. It helps a lot. Step 6 — Build a routine Take your dog to the mat after sleep, food, play, and excitement. Step 7 — Transition to the boat Move the mat to its final spot onboard once the habit sticks. #dog #cutedog #sailingdog #circumnavigation #pottytraining

We use our dinghy anchor mostly to keep our dinghy from hitting the dock when there is a swell. What we do is tie the dinghy to the dock, shoot the dinghy anchor off the back, and then pull the anchor line tight enough so that the dinghy doesn’t hit the dock. After we came back to a popped dinghy in Mustique, we learned that it’s best to use an anchor! Follow us for more tips about living the sailing cruiser life. #sailinglife #sailingexperience #sailingchannel
