Did moving onto a sailboat live up to the dream, or did the reality of dock life shatter the romance? After 365 days of living aboard our Catalina 30, SV Zanadu, we’re sharing the unfiltered truth about what year one is REALLY like. From major DIY boat projects—fixing storm-damaged fiberglass, replacing running rigging, recorking, and electrical overhauls—to navigating the Texas summer heat, managing clutter in a micro-space, and adapting to marina dynamics, we break down everything it takes to build a peaceful lifestyle on the water. If you’ve ever dreamed of downsizing, simplifying your life, or moving aboard a sailboat, this honest look at the mental shifts, physical work, and real-world logistics will help you decide if dock life is right for you. ⚓ WATCH NEXT / HELPFUL RESOURCES: • Watch our Solar System Installation: https://youtu.be/xOiP5stoigc • How I Replaced the Impeller on the Catalina 30: https://youtu.be/y8Xxr9eG6Oo • Essential Galley Upgrades for Small Space Living: https://youtu.be/DyAJQqG5hGQ • 12 Volt Lighting Upgrade: https://youtu.be/AoMiklax34o • Catalina 30 Battery Replacement: https://youtu.be/usGrNnyEAz0 • Catalina 30 Refit (Compilation): https://youtu.be/DUaQ2OYtN1s ☕ SUPPORT THE CHANNEL & OUR JOURNEY: If you find value in our videos and want to support our channel, consider leaving us a tip or buying us a beer!
