Caribbean 40 Owner, Trent G, what he has to say about the Quick Gyro X19: “One thing I really like about it is the compact size of the unit, so it easily fits in the engine room” “I looked at all brands and took all things into consideration. The third passage race of West Highland Yachting week 2022 from Tobermory to Oban once again provided some close racing at the first turning mark. The J109 BlueJay just got across the bow of the second J109 Going to Red. The they were closely followed by the 3rd J109 Salamander who was forced to go wide as the fast charging Sigma 400 Sunrise with no mark room decided to ignore the rules and gybe in side rather than luffing to keep clear. It was a little disappointing that Sunrise failed to do any penalty turns after breaking the rules, karma came to the rescue of the boats who followed the rules as Sunrise's kit wrapped around the forestay which allowed Salamander to luff up under them retaking 3rd place on the long run to Oban. BlueJay showed a clean pair feels leading from start to finish just beating Salamander to win the race, GTR learnt that polars are king when one design racing and learnt the hard way that low and slow is not the way to go when racing a J109 down wind. There was lots of tight racing across the whole week which made for a great regatta in the Scottish Highlands. The team at Bottom Up Boat hope you are enjoying the action from WHYW 2023.

Enjoying a sail on Squib Satyr and (at last) a decent F3 breeze. The wind did pick up at time to a F4 which had the boat heeling well over and showing us what she can do. Apologies for the quality of the image - taken on my iPhone and a tad too busy in the decent wind to use my iPhone ;) Great sailing with you Mike Simmons. cheers Dave Grundy
