? Full test in Multihulls World N°203. ? After its sojourn in La Grande-Motte where it made its world premiere, the Tricat 8.50 #1 returned to Brittany, where we got the opportunity to test it in the Gulf of Morbihan. The program for our trip out between two near-tropical squalls? Beaching on the shoreline and enjoying the thrill of gliding across flat water. Tricat, which has specialized in the under-30-foot folding trimaran sector since 2002, is replacing the valiant 25. Still folding, of course, the new 8.50 is logically much more modern than its predecessor, with an added touch of comfort and agility. The lifting daggerboards are found on the floats, freeing up the central hull. As for the companionway hatch, this has 3 positions and can be fitted with a sprayhood and sun awning. Inside, thanks to double chines, the 8.50 manages to offer rather decent headroom of 6 feet (1.82 m). There are proper berths, a fixed galley, heads and plenty of cleverly-used interior space. ? Presented as a previewed at the recent Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the VisionF 82 ALU marks a step towards more environmentally-friendly luxury cruising, thanks to a large surface area of solar panels and a powerful battery bank - all capable of powering this multiyacht for 20 hours without need for generator support. It's worth noting that the aluminum construction incorporates a recyclable material... however, this 82, announced two years ago, is not as virtuous as the collaboration with Silent Yachts would have us believe - it's primarily powered by traditional internal combustion engines. The layout is customizable, with generous natural lighting thanks to large windows and ultra-comfortable cabins - 195 square feet (18 m²) for the Owner's Suite. As for the aft cockpit, it can be transformed into a huge bathing platform thanks to the hydraulic platform and folding bulwarks.
