In Part 1 of the Maneuvering a Catamaran series we show the simplest maneuver with a catamaran which is spinning around. These and other animations are embedded in our Catamaran Sailing Confidence course at https://www.nauticed.org/sailing-courses/view/catamaran-sailing-confidence Learn how to spin a catamaran using gears in this step-by-step tutorial from NauticEd, the international leader in sailing and powerboating education. Whether you’re preparing for your first bareboat charter or looking to refine your docking skills, mastering this maneuver is essential for safe, confident boat handling. In this video, we’ll show you exactly how to use forward and reverse gears on a twin-engine catamaran to rotate the boat on its own axis. This technique is critical for tight-space maneuvering, docking, and leaving slips, especially when wind or current makes control more challenging. You’ll learn: How to position the throttles for a controlled spin The difference between port and starboard engine use #catamaran #bareboatcharter #sailing
The construction of the brand new SW108#01 HYBRID is in full swing, with the hull’s bottom infusion process completed. This lamination technique uses vacuum pressure to suck resin through a dry laminate made up of layers of composite cloths. We introduced carbon fiber in the construction of maxi yachts in 2000. In 2004, upon having fine-tuned the infusion technique on flat panels and on structural elements, we began infusing hulls and decks, becoming the pioneer in mastering this composite construction process. The results are light yet sturdy, reliable yachts built to sail in every sea!
