We have sailed the beautiful bay of Napels with our catamaran. There is so much to see: the city of Napels, Pompeii, Sorrento, Capri. And also being in the harbors and looking at the villages build up the hills, make you realize that 2.000 year of history with the Roman Empire lives together with modern society! For example, this is Porto di Baia, our drone flies from our boat in that harbor to the modern city and suddenly you see that above that modern city the remains of an old city is there. The old city that is now excavated, was build on the wall of an ancient Volcanic crater. Also the dome you see later in the video, is the Temple of Diana, the largest best preserved dome chamber after the Pantheon in Rome. It was a thermal complex making use of the hot waters in the ancient volcanic crater, that was build in 300 AC. Amazing that this dome was not discovered until the end of the nineteenth century when metropolitan lines were build and they discovered that beneath the modern city, was this huge thermal complex. At first, the connection with Diana, the goddess of the hunt, was not clear, until they discovered a marble relief depicting a series of animals, and more animals covered the walls and ceilings. Enjoy flying over this beautiful area around the harbor where the remains of the ancient Roman Empire as so close.

Vi har passerat ekvatorn och firade med bubbel/cola och chips direkt efter frukost🥂. Klockan var 08.26 och vi kryssade fram i 8.3knop, tack vare medströmmen, när plottern visade 0.00grader. Mäktig känsla att passera ekvatorn och det är även en seglartradition att bli godkänd av Kung Neptunus. Så han kom på besök under eftermiddagen och renade oss från landlivets synder och krönte oss till erfarna havsseglare. 🎉⛵️ Allt om ceremonin och firandet filmades så ni får se mer av det på söndagens youtube-avsnitt!▶️ Nu ska vi fortsätta  "stampa på" i kryss vidare mot Galapagos. Vårt nästa delmål på seglingen till Franska Polynesien. När vi passerat Galapagos kan vi kursändra och få en mer behaglig segling. Det ser vi fram emot ⛵️💙 Området runt Galapagos är naturskyddsområde så vi behöver hålla ca 80nm avstånd annars kan man få böter på 1000dollar. ⛵️ Tycker ni att vi klarade Neptunus prövningar? We just crossed the Panama Canal on Zambezi, and let’s just say… it’s not a lazy Sunday sail. Here’s what caught us off guard: ⛵️ Your boat is not important. You’re just a tiny dot next to the big container ships. Be prepared to get moved around to fit the schedule. 💪 Your line handlers need muscles. The chambers fill fast, the current pulls hard, and keeping the lines tight is real work. Don’t skip arm day 😉 🧑‍✈️ You need to know how to steer in currents. Between the water rushing in and the 300-meter cargo ship powering up in front of you, your rudder needs a steady hand. Now that we’re through the Canal, we have “only” 2,800nm left to sail to our final destination in Canada. Should be doable by September, right? Stay Salty!
