Artist Nick Hutton Jay kindly put down his paintbrush for a minute to talk about his Kindred experience. Who is Nick? Nick is a painter, creative mastermind and the hand behind hundreds of beautiful mural projects all over North America. Nick co-founded Pacific Board Art - https://pacificboardart.bigcartel.com/ - a West coast arts organization that brings together artists, board sports and conservation fundraising. We really respect folks who fuse their passions with positive community action, and Nick is a great example. When it came time to build him a custom splitboard Nick linked us up with Pacific Board Art co-founder, Ian Adams of Done Creative - https://www.donecreative.ca/ - who allowed us to interpret one of his classic ULLR images in wood marquetry for Nick's board. Our sister resort Papua Explorers Eco Resort has a fantastic foundation Raja Ampat SEA Centre. One project is our coral garden in front of the resort jetty. It is so wonderful to see different marine life moving in. During the last few weeks we've had a cuttlefish sheltering under the coral plantation structures. We even had a mating pair, with the female laying eggs inside some corals successfully growing on the structure shaped like a manta ray!

Jornada incrível de navegação em alto mar, percorrendo uma distância de 1000 km em um veleiro, desde Salvador, Bahia, até Vitória, Espírito Santo. Durante essa travessia, tivemos a incrível oportunidade de avistar mais de 40 baleias, adicionando um elemento extraordinário à experiência. Navegar por longas distâncias em um veleiro exige habilidades marítimas e coragem, e essa viagem parece ter proporcionado não apenas uma conquista física, mas também momentos de beleza e conexão com a natureza ao avistar esses majestosos animais marinhos. Foi uma experiência marcante que estou levando muitos aprendizados.
