Alden’s highly successful fusion of the American fishing schooner as pleasure yacht, her 1927 design date parallels his most successful period in fast cruiser design, when his MALABARs ruled the waves. After gathering dust at the John G. Alden office for almost 90 years, along came an individual with the knowledgeable passion and vision to bring Design No. 347 to life as WOLFHOUND. All executed by the best possible people, including naval architect Niels C. Helleberg who began his Alden design career working beside the man who had originally drawn her lines. For her hull builder, Graafship, it’s the first time they’ve built a genuinely new classic schooner instead of a replica, and she was a labour of love for her finishing craftsmen. Since completion in 2021, WOLFHOUND already has two Atlantic crossings under her belt and a period of extensive Baltic cruising, all crewed by family and friends, and is very well-proven. Vindication of John Alden’s minimally crewed dream yacht for exploration adventures beyond the horizon: WOLFHOUND’s brave, wholesome appearance - very different from the replicas built for the classic regatta circuit - shouts this.

ARROW was among the first of the West Solents to be built at Lymington in 1924, and the last of a lucky group of these ultra elegant and fast 1920s sports boats to be restored by Peter Brookes at Maldon through the 1990s. https://www.sandemanyachtcompany.co.uk/yacht/782/ARROW She has subsequently become arguably the best known of them, campaigned very successfully in two ownerships over 25 years in both Mediterranean and south and southeast of England classic regattas. Few British pre-war cruiser-racers have had so much love and care lavished on them, but this striking 50 ft classic yawl - Fred Shepherd’s last design - thoroughly deserves it. AMOKURA's story is remarkable and her ability legendary. Almost as if she demanded it, her few owners over more than 80 years have always let her off the leash as a long-distance cruiser and passage racer; in present ownership she has completed the past two Fastnet Races and cruised extensively. https://www.sandemanyachtcompany.co.uk/yacht/775/AMOKURA Through the lessons learned during voyages that offer time to think, AMOKURA has been refined and improved to the extent that she is most probably a more able yacht than when launched by Moody's in 1939. Yet she is doing exactly what her designer and commissioning owner envisaged. Down below that is achieved with rather more comfort than the 1930s sailor accepted, but with no loss of charm and period feel. AMOKURA is very special, and, of course, she doesn't need to be sailed far away to be enjoyed and to give back.
