The Pegasus 50 hull construction composite is made of a hybrid of carbon and glass fibres, with a PVC core and vinyl ester resin. A carefully controlled vacuum-infusion process creates a laminate of exceptional quality. The combination of glass and carbon fibres increases impact resistance while simultaneously improving structural stability and reducing displacement. The boat benefits from a monocoque construction, in which the deck, bulkheads and floors are bonded and fully laminated to the hull. This creates an extremely stiff structure, without adding unnecessary weight. Toni and I boarded Moments in Time with Captain Mike for our first shakedown sail. It was a morning of flooding rains and stiff breezes. We found this and that issues which we were able to resolve but as the breezes reached 30+ knot winds and the waves turned the minutes to hours, we headed back to Liberty Marine satisfied with the day’s progress.
