J109 "CTRL J" beating up the shore to stay out of the tide shortly after the start of the Harbour Race of Cork Week 2024. With over 100 boats on the start line everyone was fighting for air shortly after the start, with the tide coming in all day it paid to get right early to find both clear air and some relief from the stronger tide out in the main channel. Soñando con las lanillas. Cuando navegamos en ceñida, tenemos que mirar los catavientos siempre. En mis clases de vela, siempre hago mucho hincapié en que hay que estar atento a las lanillas del foque o génova cuando navegamos en rumbos del través a la ceñida. Muchas veces, el tripulante viene viciado por la electrónica y deja esta herramienta relegada al recuerdo. No se da cuenta que una lanilla es más eficaz que la electrónica. No quiero decir con esto que los avances tecnológicos en náutica no sean útiles. Nada más lejos de mi intención. Solo digo que los catavientos, cualesquiera que tengamos a bordo son una herramienta fabulosa.
