July 1st-Anchored at the island of Tobacco Caye, Belize we got up early ready to visit the underwater world. There was a strong current in the ocean, so Kristie & David stayed in the dinghy following us as we explored. Being back in the water was pure bliss and an instant calm. This endangered species’ strong jaw and beak are tremendously tough, it can bite and tear through the rugged, fibrous structure of #seagrass and #algae. Their jaws are also adapted to a grinding motion, allowing them to use this motion to break down the rough fibers of the vegetation into smaller pieces that are easier to digest and efficiently consume plant material as much as they can in one bite.
