Quando l'argano gira le maglie vanno ad ingranarsi nel barbutin trasmettendo il moto e lo sforzo alla catena, nei due sensi. Deve essere "calibrato" cioè avere le impronte della stessa dimensione delle maglie. Il nome deriva dal suo inventore, il francese Barbotin e si pronuncia alla francese "barbotèn". barca a motore: (s.f.)
