Jack Roy joined the board of Irish Sailing in 2013 and was President from 2017 to 2020. During this time he led with great talent and dedication, and always with a sense of fun and humour. The extent of his influence and popularity is shown in the tributes received by Irish Sailing from people around the world who worked with him during his presidency. Jack finished his presidency during COVID lockdown when face to face celebrations were restricted, so we marked the occasion by publishing his last speech and a slideshow of his time as Irish Sailing President. Just look at that #seaturtles strong beak, as it tears off the vegetation with ease. This endangered species’ strong jaw and beak are tremendously tough, it can bite and tear through the rugged, fibrous structure of #seagrass and #algae. Their jaws are also adapted to a grinding motion, allowing them to use this motion to break down the rough fibers of the vegetation into smaller pieces that are easier to digest and efficiently consume plant material as much as they can in one bite.
