Today we left the south coast of Grenada and sailed north to a deserted island called Ronde Island. Aside from some goats and one other sailboat, we're the only people here. I like the variety that sailing offers. The last few nights have been busy, social, and engaging at Le Phare Bleu, a lovely boutique marina on the south. It will be quiet, peaceful, and relaxing tonight at Ronde Island. It's our new guests' first full day out on Britican! We'll have to celebrate that ;) #sailingexperience #sailinglifestyle #learntosail #short
► Full test in our next Forever Green Special Edition N°24: https://www.multihulls-world.com/articles-catamaran-trimaran/leopard-46-electric-drive-24-hours-on-board-for-a-forever-green-test ► Shipyards offering hybrid propulsion systems are promising significantly reduced fuel consumption, silent sailing and intelligent complementarity between sailing and motor sailing... all rather convincing arguments that we wanted to test on the water for 24 hours aboard a Leopard 46 Electric Drive. Setting out from Saint-Raphaël on France’s Mediterranean coast, we embarked on an unpretentious mini-cruise, where we not only tested a hybrid catamaran equipped with the Joool system (identical to that used by Fountaine Pajot) but also noted the charging and energy consumption. Even the tender – a Highfield 340 E-Propulsion – was electric. So, did we fire up the generator or not? Hayrack boom option A Sparcraft Masts option that allows the mast and stack pack to consume less vertical space. This one is another upgrade and another one we will have on Mira. We originally thought about the in-boom furling option, but when this option was added, we changed our minds. Advantages: Allows the boom to be lowered (and with changes to how the spinnaker halyard exits) the mast can get below 65’ from the water (ICW bridge compliant) with no change to sail area Wider sail flaking area which makes putting the sail away easier This also allows the lazy jacks to attach further outboard on the boom, making snagging battens while hoisting way less likely Disadvantages It cost more. Way less than the inboom furling system, but still about a $4k upgrade
