A Humpback whale sings then breaches close enough for Nicole to feel the splash! Nicole filmed this while swimming in the open ocean near Moorea, French Polynesia (by Tahiti). Nothing to do with sailing but too good not to share with you right away... By the way, we were being guided by a whale expert who ensured we did not impact the whale in any way. Before this encounter we swam some distance away from a boat that was drifting with it's engine off, then allowed the whale to approach us (or not) on his own terms. We want to share our GTFO plan of retiring early to explore the world on a Balance 482 catamaran. We plan to retire June 1, 2023, Dennis’s mandatory retirement date when he will have served 30 years in the Army. We currently own a 1984 Catalina 30’ monohull sailboat on the Chesapeake Bay. This is our practice boat and is not designed for the open ocean and too small for full-time, liveaboard life. We put non-refundable money to reserve our Balance 482 catamaran. We plan to name her GTFO...Get the F&*# Out! :) Learn with us as we prepare to GTFO and sail the world! Kisses, Ann & Dennis
