While in Trinidad we've had people recommend a huge range of foods and local dishes to try. Over the last few weeks I've been listening to other cruisers rave about the aloo pie at the Port of Spain Central Market so today I got myself one and I'm SO glad I did! The mix of herbs, spices, potato, chickpeas and everything else stuffed inside the fried bread was delicious. There's a ton of boat down in George Town, Bahamas in January and February. We made it down here early spring last year and there were far less boats. I think we were told that during the cruisers regatta, there can be in upwards of 300 boats down here. Anyways, the cruising community down here is amazing. There's a regular cruisers net in the morning. They have rum tastings, volleyball, Texas Hold Em and lots of kids related activities. Living in a Trinidad shipyard for over a year many of the friends we've made either work in the area or are into boating or sailing. One Trini friend was heading out for a lime DDI and kindly invited us to come along - our final destination was my favourite getaway, Chacachacare! He has a small monohull sailboat that's great for Caribbean island hopping. With our catamaran having been stuck on land for over 14 months undergoing warranty repairs it felt so good to get out on the water, put a sail up and go where the wind takes us!
